Well what a great turnout it was and so many supporting Australia Day 2018 . Simply fantastic. You have to give it to Darren, the Rubicon Hotel publican for putting on a great show year after year. Rubiconriff played the first year and have returned every year since. We reckon the crowd was in the thousands this year, nothing like cold beer, a warm day, a top BBQ, stuff for the kids and great music to fire up Australians. A great day was had by all attending the Alexandra Spring Fair. Food stalls of all kinds entertainment for the kids and people relaxing under the trees listening to some fine music. Rubiconriff returned to their hometown playing a mix of covers and originals with a new line up for the day. Local Chris Lynch on drums, Garry and Shane providing banjo vocals and guitar and Garry’s son Brad providing some neat engine room base.  You would have to agree that the Alexandra Spring Fair is a fantastic family day  and congratulations to all the organizers for a well run event....

The Solder The soldier is a song about Shane’s Grandfather Frederick Charles Henry Hodges who enlisted into the Australian Army on 2nd March 1915. He was enlisted into the Australian Signal Corps D Company of the 23rd Battalion which was raised and comprised of volunteers in Victoria as the third battalion of the 6th Brigade. After initial training, Fred’s unit left Australia on troopship Euripides on 10th May 1915 and arrived in Egypt about six weeks later where it would complete its advanced training. Rubiconriff Alexandra Spring Show A great day was had last Saturday as the boys from Rubiconriff entertained the crowd at the Alexandra Spring show. Music on tap, raffles going off, craft stalls, food stalls, wine tasting & sales, plant stalls and gourmet delights. To top it off it did not rain and turned out quite warm.
